Indonesian Designer Temma Prasetio Showcases Strength and Sensitivity in His New Collection
‘Beautiful Masculinity’ features sharply tailored pieces and wearable silhouettes that explore a new identity for men’s fashion
New masculinity
Indonesian designer Temma Prasetio recently debuted at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur 2025 with ‘Beautiful Masculinity,’ a resort collection that redefines strength through elegance, tailoring, and structure.
Known for incorporating Indonesian traditional textiles into his modern menswear pieces, Temma Prasetio went out of the box for this new collection, featuring a variety of fabrics not typically seen in his past work: wool, scuba, and leather-look materials, offering tactile richness and modern appeal. Sharply tailored pieces and wearable silhouettes in earthy tones exude a masculine aesthetic that is both powerful and poetic.

Signature pieces include bomber jackets, collarless shirts, and a standout reinterpretation of the beskap — a traditional Javanese shirt — and sarong, giving a minimalist and modern edge. Completing the looks are leather sandals and suede loafers from MARIO MINARDI.
“This collection is about exploring a new identity for men’s fashion — one that allows space for strength and sensitivity to coexist,” said Temma after the show. “I wanted to present Indonesian design on a global stage, not limited by traditional textiles, but still inspired by our cultural silhouettes and spirit.”

A graduate of private Italian fashion school Instituto di Moda Burgo, Temma first gained recognition as the runner-up in the 2018 Perancang Mode Menswear competition at Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW). Beyond his home country, his works have also been featured at Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW), Jakarta Fashion & Food Festival (JF3), and Dubai Fashion Week.

‘Beautiful Masculinity’ is now available at fashion concept store PILLAR, where Temma held a launch party with close friends and family, and a styling session with Indonesian influencer Tysna Saputra.
Frequently Asked Questions
A beskap is a traditional Javanese formal shirt characterized by its structured, high-collared silhouette, asymmetrical button closure, and clean lines. Modern designers update this heritage garment by stripping away rigid ceremonial layers, using western textiles like wool or scuba, and pairing it with minimalist sarongs to create fluid, everyday resort wear.
Temma Prasetio’s 2025 collection, Beautiful Masculinity, diverges from his signature style by stepping away from a strict reliance on traditional Indonesian woven textiles (tenun). Instead, the collection experiments with heavy western apparel materials—such as structural wool, technical scuba, and leather-look textiles—to introduce fresh tactical variety.
The concept of Beautiful Masculinity explores a design space where physical strength and emotional sensitivity comfortably coexist. Rather than leaning into aggressive, hyper-masculine streetwear or overly delicate silhouettes, it strikes a balance using unstructured shoulders, earthy color palettes, and poetic tailoring that allows for fluid movement.
Temma Prasetio has presented his menswear collections across several premium fashion platforms throughout Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Notable showcases include his international debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur 2025, Dubai Fashion Week, Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW), Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW), and the Jakarta Fashion & Food Festival (JF3).
Modern Indonesian resort tailoring pairs naturally with classic Italian-style or structured heritage footwear. Clean leather slides, woven leather sandals, and premium suede loafers provide a refined yet relaxed foundation that complements earthy tones and deconstructed traditional garments without overwhelming the silhouette.
