Two Decades In, and Y-3 Still Continues to Evolve
Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas may seem like an unlikely pairing, but their F/W 2025 collection proves they’re a perfect match

Moto meets romance
Paris has long been the epicenter of high fashion, but amid a season saturated with collaborations, Y-3 still manages to cut through the noise.
Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas, now 23 years strong, have built a partnership that redefined the boundaries of sportswear and couture.
At their latest Fall/Winter show in the cavernous Pavillon Cambon Capucines, Y-3 delivered a full-throttle sensory experience.
The setting was dramatic: a massive LED rectangle floated in the center of the space. The bassline thumped, the lights surged, and the atmosphere crackled with anticipation. As the first models hit the runway, it became clear that this was a statement.
Black technical looks set the tone—a leather jacket so oversized it bordered on armor, a trench dress with slitted arms revealing flashes of white chiffon, and cargo pants reinforced with kneepads.
Then came the motorcycle suits, courtesy of Dainese, a longtime collaborator with Yohji.

The Y-3 universe
Y-3 is all about balance. As the collection unfolded, a delicate thread of romance tempered the rebellion.
Abstract burnt amber prints bled across white knits and black puffer jackets. Accessories with malleable wires threaded into hat brims and coat seams. These moments felt quintessentially Yohji—an infusion of Japanese artistry into Adidas’s sleek sportiness.
The collaboration expanded this season to include Japanese streetwear label Neighborhood, known for its motorcycle-inspired aesthetic. Leather and nylon racing jackets emblazoned with “Y-3-N” also made their debut.
This collection’s success lies in its duality: tough yet sensitive, functional yet romantic, familiar yet forward-thinking.
Yohji and Adidas may seem like an unlikely pairing—a Japanese fashion auteur and a German sportswear titan—but their creative synergy is undeniable.
Two decades in, Y-3 continues to evolve while remaining a beacon of effortless cool. Health goth lives on, and this collaboration remains its reigning monarch.
