Since its initial launch in 2007, the HydroConquest collection has served as the cornerstone of Longines’ sporty identity, combining robust functionality with the brand’s signature understated elegance.
The collection traces its lineage back to the 1954 “Conquest” line, which established the template for timepieces capable of performing across all facets of modern life.
For March 2026, Longines continues this measured evolution, introducing a new generation of timepieces designed to transition seamlessly from active maritime adventures to elegant social occasions.
A new vision for the modern explorer
The 2026 collection offers bold refinement for the modern explorer. Longines redesigned the line in versatile 39-mm and 42-mm stainless-steel cases, carefully tuned for contemporary presence and wearability for active pursuits.
The collection boasts vibrant technical updates: four dial variations (polished lacquered blue, black, and green, plus a new frosted-blue sunray) and five ceramic bezel colors (classic black, blue, and slate grey, plus new verdant green and luminous blue).
For enhanced visibility, the dials feature new applied indices treated with Super-LumiNova®, and this treatment extends to a new capsule at the “0” position on the reworked unidirectional rotating bezel to ensure optimal legibility in all lighting conditions.
Technical mastery beneath the surface
While the exterior reflects a more polished design language, the “power beneath the surface” remains the collection’s technical heart. Each timepiece is powered by the Longines exclusive calibre L888.5, a self-winding mechanical movement equipped with a silicon balance-spring.
Silicon is a crucial advancement for modern horology, as it is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and impervious to normal temperature fluctuations and magnetic fields.
The innovative L888.5 movement is ten times more magnetically resistant than the ISO 764 standard and boasts a 72-hour power reserve. Maintaining its integrity, the collection is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 metres), secured by a screw-in crown and robust case.
Innovation in comfort
In a significant first for the HydroConquest collection, Longines has introduced three additional references on Milanese mesh bracelets.
Crafted from high-quality stainless steel with a full-brushed finish and polished sides, these bracelets provide a sophisticated explorer aesthetic that bridges heritage and modernity.
The tapered mesh construction is designed for exceptional breathability and comfort, featuring a micro-adjustment clasp and improved shortening links for easy personalization and an impeccable fit.
Elegance in motion
To capture the spirit of the new collection, Longines launched a compelling campaign starring Ambassador of Elegance Henry Cavill, who has been with the brand since 2024.
Filmed on the dramatic volcanic shores of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, the campaign depicts Cavill moving effortlessly between the land and the sea. Cavill also remarked that the watch embodies lightness and dignity, reflecting Longines’ classic elegance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Val Kilmer’s appearance in As Deep As The Grave was created using generative AI trained on archival footage, family photos, and thousands of hours of past performances. The technology reconstructed his facial expressions, vocal cadence, and physical likeness across multiple ages, enabling over an hour of posthumous screen performance.
Yes. Mercedes Kilmer publicly supported the project, stating that her father viewed emerging technology optimistically. The Kilmer estate collaborated directly with the production, framing AI as an imaginative tool — a “prosthetic” for performers who lose physical abilities like voice or mobility — rather than a replacement for the actor.
Several actors have been recreated digitally in recent years. Val Kilmer’s pre-cancer voice was reconstructed using AI for a cameo in Top Gun: Maverick (2022). Bruce Willis was associated with digital twin technology following his retirement due to aphasia. James Earl Jones signed over the rights to his Darth Vader voice to Respeecher before his death, ensuring the character’s voice can be used in future Star Wars projects.
As Deep As The Grave is an upcoming Western drama directed by Coerte Voorhees. Val Kilmer was originally cast as Father Fintan, a role he was unable to film due to his declining health from throat cancer. The film uses AI to deliver his posthumous performance in the role he had been set to play before his death in April 2025.
The use of AI to reconstruct deceased or incapacitated actors raises ongoing debates about the authenticity and “soul” of a performance, the rights of actors over their likeness and voice, and the responsibilities of estates and studios. SAG-AFTRA and production companies are developing new guidelines to navigate the balance between creative innovation, performer rights, and reverence for an actor’s legacy.
