Construction Layers Craft Their Future with Echoes of the Past
Founders CP Garcia and Kendrick Cay unveil their new collection “ENVISAGE VOL. 2,” in a historical exhibition in Intramuros, Manila
History and fashion
Following the success of Construction Layers’ Collection III: ENVISAGE VOL. 1, the brand returns with a new showcase, once again rooted in historical nuances. Drawing heavy Dutch cultural influences and Filipino narratives, they continue to seamlessly explore the intersection of past and present through their designs.
Set against the historic backdrop of Intramuros, specifically at the Reducto de San Pedro—one of Manila’s most iconic landmarks—the exhibition presented a striking fusion of history and fashion. Guests were drawn to pieces from the collection, suspended from chains on a triad pillar, creating a compelling visual narrative that paid homage to the location’s rich history during the Spanish colonial era.
Crafting a progressive vision
As the sun began to set, the chains gently swayed in the breeze, moving in sync with the DJ’s beats, adding rhythm to the scenic ambiance. Defined by a monochromatic palette, structured silhouettes, and intricate textures, the collection told a powerful story with every garment. Buttoned smock shirts, vests, work jackets, balloon shorts, and pleated pants—each piece was traditionally tailored, yet visually striking.
Drawing inspiration from medieval clothing and the exhibition’s historic setting, Construction Layers reveals a clear vision for the future of the brand—expressive, progressive, and bold. This collection stands as a testament to their mastery in crafting narratives, seamlessly honoring the past while stepping confidently into what’s next.
