What to Expect from BTS’ Comeback This Year
Our favorite Boy Scouts are back this year, and we’re sure that they’ll make their fans happy
The wait is almost over. After completing their mandatory military service, BTS are officially entering a new chapter with their long-awaited comeback album this March. Arirang, their sixth studio album, marks the group’s first original full-length release in over three years and signals a major reset for the seven-member powerhouse.
Last year, leader RM confirmed that the group was “working diligently” on new material, reassuring fans that the reunion would be substantial. Since then, members have described the album as “the whole package,” hinting at a project that balances storytelling and sonic evolution. With all seven members heavily involved in writing and production, anticipation is building ahead of its March 20 release.
What’s new?
Arirang is being positioned as a more mature and expansive record, drawing from hip-hop, rap, and pop while reflecting the members’ individual growth during their hiatus. Industry heavyweights are also stepping in. The album reportedly includes contributions from global hitmaker Max Martin, known for shaping chart toppers with Måneskin and Lizzo, as well as Jon Bellion, whose 2016 breakout All Time Low cemented his pop credentials.
In a November update, RM described the album as “really good” and emphasized that “everybody is working hard,” underscoring the group’s collaborative dynamic. The members also revealed that they attended a songwriting camp specifically for Arirang, suggesting a hands-on, workshop-driven creative process.
Adding to the intrigue, producer Diplo has publicly confirmed his involvement, teasing the project as “the craziest album ever.” He praised the group’s creativity and singled out Jung Kook for his standout vocal ability, further fueling speculation about the album’s sonic range.
The world tour
Beyond the album, BTS is preparing for an ambitious 2026 to 2027 world tour, beginning in Goyang, South Korea. Spanning 34 cities and more than 79 shows, the tour is expected to feature a 360-degree round stage design, placing fans at the center of an immersive arena experience.
Kicking off in April, the tour will travel through Tokyo, North America, Europe, Latin America, and across Asia. Southeast Asian stops include Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Manila, with additional nearby dates in Kaohsiung and Hong Kong.
The March 20 comeback event at Gwanghwamun Square will be streamed live on Netflix, marking another major global broadcast moment for the group. Select tour dates, including Goyang and Tokyo, will also be livestreamed in theaters worldwide on April 11, extending the comeback celebration far beyond the arena.
With a new album, global producers, and a stadium-scale tour on deck, BTS’ return is shaping up to be one of the defining pop culture moments of the year.
