Eraserheads fan or not, you should definitely watch ‘Combo on the Run’
The documentary captures the iconic Filipino band in their most candid and vulnerable yet

A long time coming
The Eraserheads have been called Filipino music legends so many times that it’s become more of a fact than an opinion by now.
It’s not farfetched, though—for a band who rose to prominence in the ’90s, disbanded in 2002, and remained culturally relevant through nostalgia and the sheer power of fans clamoring for a reunion (they did cave in a few times—the most recent and biggest yet took place in 2022), the Eraserheads have figured into the lives of countless Filipinos, die-hard fans or not.

As such, there isn’t any compelling reason why you shouldn’t watch ‘Eraserheads: Combo on the Run,’ unless you absolutely hate Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro—there’s just too many precious nuggets of Pinoy pop culture to miss out on! The documentary, directed by Diane Ventura, chronicles not only the rise, fall, and resurgence of the Philippines’ most iconic band, but also the cultural and political climate of a country that has been momentarily held together by the Eraserheads’ timeless tunes.
Loyal fans will be rewarded with behind-the-scenes footage of the band on world tours, concerts, and their everyday lives, with the members candidly revealing their true feelings about certain moments (and about each other!). New and curious audiences will understand why the Eraserheads were the powerful force that they were in the ’90s, and why they remain strong within the current zeitgeist.
For a film that’s as culturally relevant as ‘Combo on the Run,’ it’s quite boggling why the documentary will only run from March 21 to 23. So, if I were you, whether you’re a fan or not, I’d urge you to check out a monumental piece of Filipino music history this weekend. You’ll be more enamored by them after viewing the film anyway.
Or, catch them live at the ERASERHEADS: ELECTRIC FUN MUSIC FESTIVAL, happening at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Pasay City on May 31, 2025. More details on this, along with the screening schedules and locations of ‘Eraserheads: Combo on the Run,’ may be found on their official Facebook and Instagram pages.
