Dylan Yturralde Gives His Next Chapter a Sound
After years of being known as an athlete and actor, Dylan is turning to music to reveal a softer side of himself and make his own sound part of his story
- His debut EP traces the stages of falling in love across five tracks.
- Music gives Dylan a new way to explore emotions he once rarely expressed.
- His music career also supports his ambitions as an actor and future leading man.
A different side of Dylan
Long before he entered a recording studio, Filipino actor Dylan Yturralde knew what it meant to perform under pressure. Volleyball, the sport he played for over 13 years, taught him patience and showed him that the work behind an achievement matters as much as the result.
That discipline carried him from Pinoy Big Brother into acting, where creative work also encouraged him to confront emotions he had often kept hidden. “Recently, I discovered that I’m actually quite an emotional person; I just rarely show it,” he said.
“In sports, I channel all my emotions physically… But when it comes to being an artist, I realized I had a lot of unprocessed, suppressed emotions.”
His realization opened the door to music. Although people had encouraged him to sing, Dylan never imagined releasing his own songs, or even making his own album, because he lacked the confidence to see himself as a recording artist.

Over time, however, music began to feel less like a departure and more like a natural continuation of the story he had already been telling through sports and acting.
Five songs, one story of love
His debut self-titled EP transforms that emotional discovery into a five-track narrative about love, moving from a simple crush to deep affection. The project took shape after Dylan repeatedly met producers and music executives who asked when he would make music.
Those initial conversations eventually blossomed into meaningful creative collaborations, studio sessions, and discussions that truly helped define the overall sound, core emotional message, and distinct visual branding of the EP.
“I want people to see that Dylan has a softer side.”
Deeply rooted in Dylan’s personal affinity for classic, vintage, and slow love songs, the project intimately reflects the style of music he naturally connects with and enjoys listening to in his personal life.
By leaning into this nostalgic soundscape, the EP serves as a thoughtful artistic bridge, introducing listeners and longtime fans to a far more vulnerable, tender, and authentic side of his personality that was rarely visible during his time on the volleyball court or in his early screen roles.
Learning to sing with emotion
Creating the EP also introduced Dylan to the technical demands of recording, from harmonies and arrangements to studio terminology. Yet the most important lesson was more personal: singing requires interpretation, not simply accurate notes.
In a pivotal studio session, Dylan deeply connected with a track’s emotion. This breakthrough shifted his delivery from technical precision to genuine feeling, reshaping the track’s direction and final production.

“I used to sing purely for fun, but now I know how to infuse real emotional depth into my vocals so listeners can feel what I feel,” he says.
The transition from singing for fun to performing with intention helped Dylan define what he wanted the EP to convey. More than a new creative challenge, the songs became a way for him to express emotions he once found difficult to put into words.
From release to the bigger picture
With the EP now released, Dylan’s attention has moved from preparing the songs to sharing them with listeners. Coming from sports, he was conditioned to believe that he has to be fully ready before stepping onto the court; he has since learned that opportunities sometimes arrive before confidence does.
The answer, he says, is to commit to the process and give it his best. That mindset also shapes his larger ambitions.
Dylan hopes music will strengthen his path toward becoming a leading man, while allowing him to contribute to stories as both actor and musician. He can even imagine his original songs appearing in his own shows or films.
The idea was partly inspired by A Star Is Born, especially scenes in which Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga perform while audiences sing along. That sense of shared emotion stayed with Dylan, even though he never expected his own musical chapter to begin so soon.
With this new venture, he hopes that everyone learns that loving someone, or something, is worth it, whether it’s one’s work or one’s studies. Dylan believes that everything done with love brings fulfillment.
“Our generation is often afraid to love, commit, or define relationships. But love is the foundation of everything… If you don’t love what you do, you won’t last or do it well.”
For now, he is embracing the chance to let listeners hear a side of him that has remained mostly private. “I want them to believe that anything is possible,” he says.
