Singaporean rapper and songwriter Yung Raja has been named the REP for the first edition of SHOW UP, a new live music platform by ComplexCon Asia. The series launches in Singapore with SHOW UP 001 at Capitol Theatre on October 8, bringing together artists, DJs, dancers, and local music communities.
For Yung Raja, the opportunity carries personal significance after years of working to put Singapore’s music scene on a wider map. “It means a lot to be allowed by ComplexCon Asia to represent the country at large,” he says.
“Being able to do music in Singapore is a privilege. Being able to bring a full asian lineup of local and regional acts has always been a dream of mine; I’m so glad I get to tick this off with ComplexCon Asia.”
The lineup reflects that ambition by bringing different generations of Singapore’s hip-hop community into the same room. Yung Raja and Akeem Jahat will represent established voices, while Mary Sue and BDK NIP bring a younger wave to the stage.
A night built around the culture
SHOW UP 001 is designed to trace Singapore hip-hop’s past, present, and future. Alongside the rappers, DJ KoFlow will bring his turntablism to the programme while LI. A leads a cypher featuring the city’s poppers, lockers, and freestyle dancers.
The programme then expands beyond Singapore with Bohan Phoenix from China and Indonesian rapper Ramengvrl joining the lineup. Japan’s DJ Koco, aka SHIMOKITA, and Tom Yeti add further regional perspectives through their sets.

“Hip-hop is my foundation and the culture that shaped us all – I want everyone under one roof to feel that energy and unity,” he added.
The result is a lineup that treats Singapore’s scene as part of a larger Asian hip-hop network. Local acts share the bill with artists from some of the region’s biggest music markets, creating a night built around exchange as much as performance.
Making room for local voices
The event takes place during F1 weekend, when Singapore is already drawing international attention. Against that backdrop, SHOW UP 001 puts the city’s own creative community at the center, with more than 60 percent of the roster made up of local artists.
Singapore’s historic venue, Capitol Theatre adds another layer to the occasion. Yung Raja notes that the venue has traditionally hosted international touring acts, making its use for a predominantly regional lineup significant.
“Sometimes you need someone to open the door and give you the stage,” he says. For SHOW UP, that means creating a platform where artists can represent themselves, their communities, and the culture they have helped build.
“It’s about putting artists in a room, giving them a real platform, and letting them, in the most literal terms, show up for themselves, their community, and what they believe in.”
The Singapore edition also sets the direction for SHOW UP as it expands across Asia. The platform aims to connect cities, artists, and audiences through editions shaped around local communities, building toward ComplexCon Hong Kong in 2027.
