Cheers to the holidays!
We at VMAN Southeast Asia love a nice drink to brighten up the mood—and what better way to drum up the holidays than with a fine selection of spirits to enjoy?
We’ve rounded up some recommendations for you, whether you’re a novice looking to try something new or a connoisseur seeking the perfect pour. Cheers and happy holidays!
Hendrick’s Gin & Tonic
If you’re a classic kind of guy, you can’t go wrong with a clean gin and tonic. For your festivities, consider the timeless Hendrick’s Gin & Tonic, spruced up with a sprig of rosemary and a few pomegranate seeds. Watch your guests revel in this curious concoction: bracing yet fragrant, like sipping a winter breeze.
If you want that added freshness, put three thinly sliced rounds of cucumber. You’ll only need around 50mL of Hendrick’s with 150mL of tonic water to get that perfect mix.
Noche Buena Negroni with Don Papa Rum
Don Papa Rum sets the holiday mood right with its rich flavors, adding a festive flair to any party. Recently, the brand has worked with some of its Craft Innovators to create the perfect toast for the holidays.
Our pick? Check out Filipino photographer and creative director Andrei Suleik’s twist on a classic Negroni: the Noche Buena Negroni, a cocktail with Don Papa Rum mixed with earthy layers of Coffee Vermouth and Campari. Make this drink by pouring 30mL of Don Papa Rum in a glass, then add 22.5mL each of Coffee Vermouth and Campari.
The Harvard with Martell Blue Swift
The Harvard is a luxurious twist on the classic Manhattan, replacing whiskey with Martell. It’s a spirit made of Cognac VSOP. It’s smooth, rich, and balanced, with hints of sweetness from the vermouth and depth from the bitters.
To make the drink, add 50mL of Martell Blue Swift in your chosen glass, 25mL of Sweet Vermouth, and 5 mL of Simple syrup. Finish with a dash of Angostura bitters.
A classic Johnnie Highball
You can never go wrong with a classic and sophisticated highball—a smoky, smooth, yet complex drink. To make it, pour 50mL of Johnnie Walker Black Label in your chosen glass with ice, then add 100mL of Soda Water and 20mL of elderflower cordial and stir. You can also add one lavender sprig and actual elderflowers to garnish the drink.
For the Johnnie Walker lovers out there, you might also want to check out their special edition bottle for the Black Label, featuring a design that sports a number ranging from 001 to 456—an homage to the players on the globally-acclaimed South Korean thriller series, Squid Game.
Brown-Forman’s The Glendronach, el Jimador, and Tequila Herradura
If you want something else aside from cocktails, the next drinks will surely interest you. Check out the recently relaunched line of premium spirits from Brown-Forman in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
For Scotch whiskey lovers, consider The Glendronach – a sherry cask single malt with a rich, amber-red gold color, imbued with the aroma of autumn fruits, and with tasting notes of caramelized bramble, silky orange and sultana.
If you’re a fan of tequilas, then the el Jimador Blanco and Reposado, and Tequila Herradura Reposado and Añejo—all made with 100% Blue Agave—are perfect for you. There’s a flavor for everyone here, from el Jimador’s crisp and fruity Blanco and notes of vanilla and caramel from the Reposado; to Herradura’s smooth, sweet, and complex Añejo and heady and crisp Reposado.
Happy holidays from VMAN Southeast Asia, and enjoy the season with the perfect drink!
Please drink responsibly.
